* Jumbo size Mr Men books, "so everyone can share the story". The illustrations, hardly works of art to begin with, look even more shoddy blown up four times bigger than they used to be.

Which reminds me:

*"Being Jordan", by Katie Price. With extra wide margins (for scholarly annotation, perhaps).

*The 40th anniversary re-issue of the Peter and Jane reading scheme. These were the books that I had as a child, although my favourite reading scheme by far - which I tracked down via google yesterday - was the Griffin Pirate Stories that I read at junior school. Three pirates - Gregory the Green, Roderick the Red, Benjamin the Blue; a Griffin; an enchanted island; and some evocative book titles. (No 20 - The Breaking of the Chain).

*Peregrine Worsthorne, "In Defence of Aristocracy". One to put next to Jordan, I think.

*Felicity Lawrence, "Not on the Label".

*Joachim Fest, "Inside Hitler's Bunker".

Various Euro 2004 annuals. Aimed at adults or children? I wondered, until I noticed the back cover deferentially referring to "Mr Eriksson".

*The Complete Guide to Buying and Renting Your Home, 3rd Revised Edition. Why wasn't this one around when I needed it?!
