Listen, Listen

gervase_fenI went into the shop today at 1.35pm and came out at 1.50pm. This constituted my first day off since Monday, 26th November, for reasons I can't blog about, but can make cryptic references to (e-mail me for details about third party software, for instance.)
Anyway, I achieved something in the afternoon by buying a present for my Spanish sister-in-law : one of these.
Some things which are keeping me on an even keel at the moment:
The Moments Only blog (see link above.)
A magnificent audiobook version of Margery Allingham's "The Tiger in the Smoke"; this is a wonderful, suspenseful abridgement, beautifully read by Philip Franks.
A compilation CD of Sandy Denny, "Listen, Listen", which I bought some years ago and forgot all about. What a revelation. It's not just the voice, and the songs, which I love, but also the clean, lush sound engineering and the unashamedly over-the-top orchestral backing to some of the later tracks.
"30 Rock"; sometimes gloriously stupid, sometimes sappy and romantic, but it always has at least three laugh-out-loud moments per episode (in "The Rural Juror", it was Alec Baldwin's business organisation flowchart showing that the Sheinhardt Wig Company owns NBC, the oeuvre of Kevin Grisham and "Hey Pete, you want to see a comic book about pregnant zombie nuns?")
