I really liked it - Freema in particular really sparkled, but praise to is due to Messrs. Gatiss, Tennant and director Richard Clark for some compelling mano a mano confrontation scenes. Sad fan that I am, when the Doctor quoted Eliot my first reaction wasn't "Oh yes, 'The Hollow Men'" but "Daniel O'Mahony's New Adventure".

Was there a bit of Kurt Vonnegut's life in Lazarus' backstory? Regardless, Mark Gatiss really delivered that speech with conviction. And any story with a "Spinal Tap" allusion is, definitely, a good thing in my book.

Not up on Eliot, Vonnegut or Spinal Tap here, sadly - but I still liked it, am watching it again now, and still think that it comes together much more in the second half.

Oh, did you see the clip of 42 on Parkinson? It looks fab!
