Cambridge, Day 4
Jul. 30th, 2006 01:26 pmMore Seth Lakeman yesterday, performing in the smaller Stage 2 tent and still compulsive to watch. He recommended the John Butler Trio, an Australian group that followed him, and who were excellent - if, musically, all over the place - funk, ska, disco, bluegrass, very exciting to watch. I'd certainly go and see them on tour again if I could.
I've been skipping some of the more traditional acts - the Chieftains, Cara Dillon - on the basis that I've seen them before or can see them again easily enough (and they are certainties to be included in BBC4's highlights package - taped on Hi-Def cameras, I noticed). Los de Abajo, a Mexican 'tropi-punk' band, don't fall into this category, and blasted away the cobwebs at 10.45 last night with a mix of ska and lots of Latin trumpets.
