Private Eye seem to think that some quixotic bid by Tim Waterstone is on the cards, but I can't see it making sense.

Is there any likelihood of staying independent? If WHS's book sections are anything to go by, that would be a disastrous outcome.

It's down to the board and the institutional shareholders now - do they accept a low HMV offer of 295p a share, or hope that in the long-term another bidder, or a management buyout, will offer the better deal?

I agree that the Private Eye story is wishful thinking on someone's part (initials TW, perhaps.)
