Michael from Old Basing comes over to meet me at the Holiday Inn opposite the shop at 12. I ask him for career advice - it turns out I could transfer to the Southern Co-op as well as Co-op stores.
I tell him what's been going on. He points out that stepping up CTMs to duty management might be OK in a shop -- in a filling station, without Person in Control training, we're in breach of Health & Safety and a fire officer could close us down.
Paul Harris, Vicki and me spend 3 hours in the office rewriting the rotas from scratch. It's clear that Simon has to stay as a keyholder to keep the shop open.
There is good news.
A new Team Leader, Asda trained, is hired for next week and his shifts are planned out.
Chris, our new store manager, starts on the 27th.
Milan is suspended due to chronic absentreeism.
Nicki B's shifts are covered ahead of, I imagine, a conversation with Simon.
I leave the shop at 4 fairly optimistic. Paul is in place for a difficult conversation with Simon at 5.30.
