So the manager's away on a course, and the assistant manager has gone to see the doctor. So here I am, posting (quite illicitly) from the top till - I'm both temporary store manager and temporary lunch cover. Hmmmm.

I'm feeling indomitable at the moment, and will be taking control of the nearest volcano as soon as I can.

You remember last week we were discussing "New Scientist" in the 60s? Sure enough there was a copy being blatantly waved around at the start of "The Ipcress File" last night (a movie that seems more and more like an ur-source for "The Green Death" and "The Time Warrior" every time I see it).

'The Ipcress File', whether film or book, is part of one of the gaps in my education. I'd love to know how it anticipates both 'The Green Death' and 'The Time Warrior' though...

Well, there is a spate of disappearing scientists, who usually end up behind the Iron Curtain, all being instantly brainwashed courtesy of a slightly suspect acronym : "Induction of Psycho-neuroses by Conditioned Reflex with streSS". The Ipcress process involves very high pitched noise and flashing lights.
