Daggerology 2019 : Shortlist thoughts
Twenty two different books across the four categories I focus on should be manageable, although I've bounced off the opening chapters of Blood & Sugar a couple of times. (I'm relieved that I don't have to read Martin Edwards' Gallows Court for similar reasons. ) It's the first time that I can remember a TV-Tie in cover appearing in the final lists (Luke Jennings) although technically I suppose that is the only cover that novel has ever had. Commiserations for not making the cut to Elly Griffiths, who wrote Mrs Fen's favourite book of last year, The Stranger Diaries, and to Catherine Steadman (Something in the Water), who has been one of the stand-outs in the enjoyably hokey X-Men meets Spooks TV series The Rook.
